Total splenectomy (the entire spleen is removed).

Laparoscopic splenectomy and colectomy are done after administering general anaesthesia. Multiple incisions are made in the abdominal area and a laparoscope (A slender tube fitted with a light and camera) is inserted in one of the incisions to locate the colon and the spleen. The abdominal cavity is inflated with carbon dioxide to create more workspace. The colon and spleen are gently disconnected from surrounding structures and removed through one of the incisions. The abdomen is deflated and the incisions are closed and dressed. After surgery, your condition is closely monitored for any complications. It may take a week to recover completely.
