Also called chronic kidney failure, CKD is a progressive, irreversible loss of kidney function that can occur over time. Timely diagnosis and treatment may prevent the progression of the disease. The disease is diagnosed using certain blood and urine investigations, imaging tests like ultrasound, and at times kidney biopsy to determine the cause and severity of the kidney disease.
