Ageing is a natural process that the body undergoes as we get older. However, with the right nutrients and lifestyle choices, you need not worry about your health deteriorating as you grow older. There are certain foods that slow the ageing process and maintain your health even as you grow older. Here are 10 foods that will help you against ageing:

Walnuts:

Walnuts contain essential minerals and healthy omega-3 fatty acids. This food helps in regulating cholesterol as well as improving digestion and immunity. All these can result in slowing the ageing of the body.

Berries:

One of the most important aspects of berries is their role as an antioxidant in the body. They prevent any damage caused due to natural oxidation that takes place as you age, and further, they help in reducing inflammations.

Green vegetables:

Green vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals that improve the health of hair, skin, and nails to give a more youthful appearance. They also contain calcium and folate which lead to sharper eyesight and increased bone strength. Further, foods like cabbage and broccoli are associated with a lowered risk of cancer.

Dark chocolate:

Cocoa beans, the main component of chocolate, is rich in anti-oxidants. Dark chocolate also reduces the formation of wrinkles on the skin as it improves blood circulation and the skin’s ability to retain moisture.

Beans:

Beans are highly nutritious and vital in preventing ageing. They are a great source of low-fat protein which is important for muscle development and growth. They are full of fibre and this helps in lowering cholesterol. Beans also have a high biotin content which means that they aid in restoring lustre to dry hair and help in treating dry skin, giving one a youthful appearance.

Whole grains:

Whole grains tend to be digested slowly and thus help in preventing diabetes and lowering blood pressure. They are rich in fibre and help to clear out the toxins in your body. They also have a large number of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that aid in preventing age-related diseases such as cancer and heart problems.

Fish:

Fish are known for being an important source of healthy fatty acids. They help reduce inflammations and are rich in omega-3 fats which are responsible for brain health.

Red wine:

Red wine is rich in Resveratrol, a vital anti-oxidant that promotes artery health and aids in inflammation reduction. Red wine is also beneficial for the skin and the cardiovascular system.

Olive oil:

Olive oil is rich in mono-saturated fats which are extremely healthy for the heart. They also prevent wrinkles and dark spots.

Avocado:

Avocado is an extremely nutrient-rich food, containing folic acid, vitamin B and E, potassium, anti-oxidants, and mono-saturated fats. Avocados decrease cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and makes the skin supple.

Ageing is something that everyone goes through, but with these foods as a regular part of your diet, you can have more confidence in your health as you grow older.
