Becoming a mother is the most special feeling a woman can experience. Every woman wishes to experience the feeling of giving birth to a new life. The thought of carrying a life inside your own body, itself bring heaps of smile and happiness to the face.

The pain, suffering, sacrifice and various countless emotions are endured by the woman during pregnancy.

Here are certain tips would help in preparing for a healthy pregnancy:

Eat Healthy

Eating a variety of healthy foods will help in preparing your body for pregnancy. It is very important to maintain a healthy diet. Adequate amount of nutrients such as proteins, calcium, iron, fruits, vegetables and whole grains should be eaten to provide the body with the required nutrients. Try to cut down on fats and junk food. Also, limit the intake of caffeine. It is said that consuming more than 500 milligrams of caffeine everyday can increase the risk of infertility in women.

Have Regular Sex

Plan to have regular unprotected sex during your most fertile days. Have a check on your ovulation cycle. The fertile days are usually 3 days before ovulation and the day you ovulate. Have regular sex, at least once a day as this may increase the chance of coinciding with the fertile window. It is also said that regular sex increases the strength of the sperms. This helps in conception. Be alert and make a note of your fertile days.

Know Your Cycle And Monitor Ovulation

When you have decided to have a baby, the first thing you should do is to check if you are having regular periods. By tracking the cycle every month, you will be able to predict when you are likely to ovulate. Monitor your ovulation days and have sex in those days to get positive results. Also, have a check on your temperature as there is a slight rise in the basal body temperature soon after ovulation.

Maintain Healthy Body Weight

Women who are obese or overweight find it difficult to conceive and therefore it is very important to maintain a healthy body weight. Excess fat in the body produces too much estrogen which interferes with ovulation. Excess weight also leads to the development of polycystic ovarian syndrome which can affect fertility and also cause miscarriages. Keep checking your BMI in order to maintain a healthy body weight.

Quit Bad Habits

Give up smoking. Smoking is bad for health and it also reduces the chances of getting pregnant. It is said that even passive smoking may disturb a woman’s fertility. The chemicals such as nicotine and carbon monoxide present in cigarettes disturb the ovulation process.

Also, avoid the consumption of alcohol as it makes it difficult for you to conceive. It interferes with the growth of the baby and increases the risk of miscarriages and stillbirth. Therefore, do not consume alcohol as it reduces the chances of getting pregnant and has a bad impact on the body.

Watch Your Workplace

It is very important to have a safe workplace. Certain types of workplaces can expose you to harmful substances in the environment which may affect your fertility. You should stay away from pesticides and heavy metals which may increase the risk of infertility. Men also should be watchful about their workplace. Heat affects the production of healthy sperms which may reduce the chances for a woman to get pregnant.

Seek Medical Help

If you have not been pregnant even after two years of unprotected sex, it is better to seek medical help. Consult your doctor. The doctor may ask about your medical history and may perform certain tests to check your ovulation and your partner’s sperm count. Once these problems are addressed you will be able to conceive. Also, you will be given medication, if required, which may increase the chance for you to conceive.

Have A Check On Your Workouts

Exercise and be fit. Strengthen your core. Exercise moderately as it will help you stay fit and will also not lower the probability for conception. It is said that strenuous workouts may affect the fertility of a woman and therefore try to take up exercises like yoga, walking, leisure cycling, gardening etc. All these activities are moderate exercises, and will not affect your pregnancy. Regular exercise will help you stay fit and active and will also help your body to function properly.

Relax

Relaxing and de-stressing your body is one of the secrets to get through while trying to conceive. Enjoy every activity you do. Relaxing your body and mind is also one of the activities and is said to be very important as it helps in calming your muscles, nerves, and helps in regulating proper blood flow. Relaxing will not get you pregnant but will help in the process of conception. Therefore, relax and find good ways to de-stress yourself.

Follow the above mentioned steps regularly for a healthy pregnancy.
