A healthy heart shall beat at a steady pace. Did you know? The defective impulses may cause the heart to beat too slow or too fast. Some of these types of arrhythmias can be severely dangerous for the human heart, if not properly treated and may also be life-threatening in some cases.

Atrial Fibrillation:

Atrial Fibrillation is a term used for rapid heart rate that commonly causes poor blood flow and can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. It reduces the ability of the atria to pump blood into the ventricles, and usually causes the heart to beat too rapidly.

Tachycardia:

Heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute in adults is considered as Tachycardia. People who consume excess amount of coffee, alcohol and those who smoke heavily are like to develop Tachycardia.

Ventricular Fibrillation:

Ventricular Fibrillation is the most commonly identified arrhythmia in patients who are clinically prone to cardiac arrest. This disorder is more critical because the ventricles pump blood from the heart to the lungs and all the other organs of the body.

Premature beats:

Premature beats can occur in people as a result of heart disease, stress, over exercising or consuming caffeine or nicotine. However this disorder can be cured by bringing about healthy lifestyle changes and consulting a cardiologist as and when required.

Bradycardia:

Heart rate of less than 60 beats per minute (BPM) in adults is called bradycardia. This condition is not serious among physically active adults but elderly people are more prone to problems associated with slow heart rate.

Long Q-T syndrome:

Long Q-T syndrome is a disorder of the heart’s conduction system that affects recharging of the heart after each heartbeat. This disorder is usually passed down through genes of the family members. Very rarely it can be caused by certain medicines, or it can be the result of a stroke or some other neurologic disorder.
