To check kidney function, there are various ways to do so. Apart from the clinical examination and medical history, a few blood tests, urine tests, and scans can give us an idea, for instance, checking creatinine, cystatin or EGFR or the percentage of the kidney that are functioning through some tools such as EGFR calculator, CKD - EPI equations, urine tests. When all these parameters are put together to the CDSS tool, they can give us an idea about the trends in the kidney function for the patient and many such information can be obtained with the CDSS tool, said Dr. Girish NS, Consultant Nephrologist & Transplant Physician, Manipal Hospital Hebbal.
