Colorectal Procedures in Bangalore

Advanced colorectal procedures in Hebbal, Bangalore are surgical treatments performed to treat certain conditions of the colon and rectum. These conditions can include cancer, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Many different types of advanced colorectal procedures can be performed depending on the severity of your condition.

Advanced colorectal procedures aim to remove any abnormal tissue in your colon or rectum. This can help prevent the spread of cancer cells to other parts of your body and reduce your risk of developing additional tumours.

A general surgeon or a gastroenterologist may perform advanced colorectal procedures. You should discuss your treatment options with your doctor before deciding which type of procedure is right for you. Advanced colorectal procedures can be performed in one of two ways: laparoscopically or robotically.

Laparoscopic procedures are performed through several small incisions in your abdomen. The surgeon inserts a thin, lighted tube called a laparoscope into one of the openings to see inside. They use this lens to guide special surgical tools through the other incisions to remove abnormal tissue from your colon or rectum.

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive technique that uses a small camera and surgical tools to perform the procedure. It involves making minor cuts in your abdomen and inserting small tubes called ports into these incisions. Doctors insert cameras and instruments through these ports to operate on your body without making additional cuts.

Advanced colorectal procedures include,

Colonoscopy – Colonoscopy is an exam used to examine the inside of your colon using a thin tube with a camera on it called a colonoscope. During this procedure, the doctor can remove polyps from your colon if they appear suspicious of cancer and take samples (biopsies) from areas that appear abnormal during the examination.

Bowel Preparation – Bowel preparation is used to clean your bowels so that any remaining stool does not interfere with the ability to see what is going on inside during the colonoscopy exam. This usually involves taking medications called laxatives several days before the exam date so that your bowels are thoroughly cleaned out. This process can be uncomfortable and messy, so you may want to plan on having someone help you with this step if possible.

You may be given a light sedative to help you relax during the colonoscopy exam. If you have sedation, you will need someone to drive you home after the procedure.

Tumours

tumours are a surgical procedure that uses an instrument called a laparoscope to examine the abdomen and pelvis. A laparoscope is a thin tube with an attached lens and light source. It is inserted into the body through a small incision in the abdomen. The laparoscope allows your doctor to see inside your abdomen without having to make significant cuts in the skin.

Tumours may be used to diagnose and treat problems involving any part of the digestive tract, including,

•The oesophagus (the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach)

•Stomach (the organ where food is digested)

The doctor inserts the laparoscope into the patient's body openings, such as the mouth or anus. The doctor then uses the laparoscope to view organs and tissues inside the abdomen, such as the liver, stomach, and intestines.

Laparoscopic surgery is less invasive than traditional open surgery because it does not require large incisions in the body. As a result, it is associated with less pain after surgery, less postoperative bleeding, fewer infections, faster recovery time, and shorter hospital stays than open surgery.

The doctor may use different types of instruments during laparoscopic surgery depending on what part of your body they are operating on:

•Balloon instrument: Used to create tiny holes in your abdominal wall so that other devices can be inserted into your abdomen through these holes. This procedure is also called "balloon dilatation."

•Endo-loop instrument: Used to remove abnormal growths from organs or tissue near them without making any cuts into these areas. This instrument is also called a "snare." Articulating instruments: Used to move organs and tissue out of the way during surgery. These are also known as "graspers" or "trocars."

•Endoscopic scissors: Used to cut tissue and remove growths. These are also called "snips."

•Endoscopic forceps: Used to gently grasp and remove tissue and growths. These are also called "graspers" or "trocars."
