If a couple cannot conceive even after one year of regular intercourse it is referred to as ‘infertility’. Almost 60 to 70 per cent of couples conceive within six months after regular unprotected sex. But those with infertility will not be able to conceive even after one year.
An egg must grow in a woman's ovary to become pregnant. Each month, an egg must be released from the ovary and taken by one of the fallopian tubes. To fertilise the egg, the man's sperm must pass through the uterus and into the fallopian tube. The fertilised egg must then give via the fallopian tube and adhere to the uterus lining.
25% of women with infertility have irregular periods or no periods. If the way of release of certain hormones changes, ovulation gets disrupted. These hormones are released from the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Grh) is released by the hypothalamus, while LH and FSH are removed by the pituitary gland (FSH). LH and FSH are essential in developing and releasing an egg from the ovary. Reproductive endocrinology treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore is available at Manipal Hospitals, visit today.

Some Procedures of Treatment
Treatment of infertility can be categorised into two main methods, one is applied through surgery or medication, and another is reproductive technologies.
Treatment through Medicine
There are many pills and injections which are prescribed to women with infertility. These pills and injections help to regulate the release of hormones. There are pills called clomiphene which help to increase LH to induce ovulation. Injections related to LH or FSH help to mature eggs.
Surgery
Surgery helps women with uterine polyps, scarring, fibroids, or endometriosis. Surgery can be effective for those women with blocked fallopian tubes. However, the treatment depends on the age and type of blockage. The blockage in the sperm transport system can also be repaired through surgery. By repairing the blockage, infertility can be brought back. Fertility is more likely to come back with the repairment of varicoceles in the case of large veins.
Assisted Reproductive Technology
Another popular option to conceive successfully is assisted reproductive technologies. This treatment procedure is carried out by inserting sperm into the womb. Another procedure is to mix the sperm with an egg outside the womb, and this method is known as in vitro fertilisation IVF). Another technique is carried out by injecting a single sperm into an egg, and this process is known as intracytoplasmic sperm injection ICSI). Women with very few eggs opt for IVF by using a donor egg. Book an appointment at our multi-specialty hospital today.
Egg Freezing
The egg freezing method is effective if a woman does not want to become pregnant soon but wants to get pregnant later. Egg freezing refers to removing the eggs from the ovary and preserving them at a low temperature.
The woman will be provided synthetic hormones to enhance egg production. Once the eggs get mature, they are removed from the ovaries.
