Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer can be detected with the help of screening tests. Some other examinations are also conducted to confirm the presence of cancer.

A pap test helps to detect abnormal cells in the cervix that may increase the risk of cervical cancer.

  • HPV DNA Test

The HPV DNA test is the test of cells that have been collected from the cervix. The test is to find out any infection that may lead to cervical cancer.

Surgery for Cancers of the Female Reproductive System

There are mainly five types of cancer in the Female Reproductive System, also known as Gynecologic cancer. These are Cervical, Uterine, Ovarian, Vaginal and Vulvar.

The body can be affected by cervical cancer after it has spread, and it applies primarily in two ways:

  • It might enlarge and spread to tissues close to the uterus and vagina, including the vagina, bladder, and rectum.

  • It could spread to the pelvic lymph nodes.

Treatment

There are two treatment procedures for all cancers in the Female Reproductive System. One method is Surgical, and another is radiation or chemotherapy.

  • Surgery

The surgical procedure can be applied to treat the early stages of gynecologic cancer. The part where cancerous cells are present is removed with the help of surgery.

  • Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a type of drug which is used to kill cancer cells. Some chemicals destroy the cancerous cells, which are given in the form of medicine through a vein or pill. Sometimes low doses of chemotherapy are also given in combination with radiation therapy for the increasing effect of the radiation. Book an appointment to consult with the experts.

  • Radiation Therapy

In radiation therapy, powerful energy beams are used to destroy cancer cells. Sometimes radiation therapy is combined with chemotherapy for the treatment of gynecologic cancer.

Both internal and exterior radiation therapy are options. A powerful radiation beam is pointed towards the affected area to apply it externally, and a device is inserted into the vagina to provide the therapy internally.

Radiation therapy may cause menopause, and you won’t be able to become pregnant after menopause. If you want to become pregnant after radiation therapy, you can ask your doctor to store the egg.

  • Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is a drug that makes your immune system robust. It helps to prevent the growth of cancer cells. Immunotherapy interferes with the abnormal growth of cells and prevents them from growing further.
