Benign tumours
Tumours that are benign stay in their primary location instead of spreading to other body parts, and they do not spread to nearby structures or distant parts of the body. It is common for benign tumours to grow slowly and to have distinct borders. The majority of benign tumours are not problematic. Nevertheless, they may become large and compress surrounding structures, resulting in pain or other medical complications. For example, a large benign lung tumour may obstruct the trachea and make breathing difficult. In this case, performing an urgent surgical removal would be necessary. It is unlikely that benign tumours will recur after they have been removed. Fibroids in the uterus and lipomas in the skin are both benign tumours.
Certain benign tumours can develop into malignant ones if they are not treated properly. In some cases, these tumours may have to be surgically removed if they are monitored closely. The colon polyps, for instance, can develop into malignant cancer and are, therefore, usually removed surgically by doing a proper pulmonology treatment in Hebbal, Bangalore to avoid spreading.
Malignant tumours
It is imperative to note that malignant tumours grow uncontrollably and spread locally and distantly throughout the body. In the world of cancer, cancerous tumours are those with quality being malignant, which means that they are cancerous. There is a possibility that they may spread to distant locations through the bloodstream or lymphatic system.
The process called metastasis is the spread of cancer cells from one place to another. A person suffering from this condition does not have a specific location where it can be found. However, the liver, lungs, brain, and bones are the most common places where they can be found.
As soon as possible, it is imperative to treat malignant tumours to prevent them from spreading throughout the body. If it is identified at an early stage, it will likely need to be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy. The treatment of cancer that has spread is likely to be systemic, such as chemotherapy or immunotherapy, if it has spread.
