Treatment
You will be asked to take off all your clothing and jewellery as soon as you arrive for your surgery. In the hospital, you will wear a gown.
You will be seated or lying on the operating table, and your brain will be operated on in a different position depending on which part is being operated on. You will be able to secure your head in place with the help of a head device.
The next step is for your healthcare team to,
Place a line of intravenous fluid in your arm or hand
Place a catheter in your bladder.
Anaesthesia is administered to you.
After putting you under anaesthesia, your surgeon will shave the hair on the surgical site. Additionally, they will clean the area to prevent infection.
Your surgeon will make an incision on the scalp of your head to perform the surgery. Using a medical drill and saw, the surgeon can remove a piece of bone called a bone flap from the affected area. After your surgeon has cut the dura mater, he will now be able to access the brain through the opening in the dura mater. On the outer surface of the brain, there is a layer of tissue called the dura mater. If necessary, your physician will perform the procedure and collect samples of tissue during the procedure. Upon the completion of the procedure, the tissue will be stitched back together once the procedure has been completed. Wires, stitches, or plates may replace the bone flap. As the last step, your surgeon will stitch or staple the skin incision before applying a sterile dressing to cover it. As a result of the procedure, there may be a delay of about two and a half hours after it has been completed. Book an appointment at Manipal Hospitals now.
