Management of Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)

Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) is a severe gastrointestinal condition characterised by inflammation and tissue death in sections of the bowel. It's more prevalent among premature infants or those with weakened immune systems.

As the baby's capacity to process nutrients through digestion improves, a gradual shift towards oral or tube feeding is undertaken, eventually phasing out the reliance on TPN.
