Treatments & Procedures

1. Pediatric Allergy and Asthma: Evaluation and management of children with allergic rhinitis, preschool wheeze and asthma. Parental education and counselling for allergen and irritant avoidance, inhaler technique and lifestyle measures. Performing pediatric Lung Function tests for objective assessment and careful follow-up of these patients.

2. General Respiratory Care: Evaluation of children with noisy breathing, chronic cough, congenital airway and lung malformations, infections such as viral and bacterial pneumonia, tuberculosis and parasitic lung infections, recurrent or persistent pneumonia and empyema, along with pre and post-operative management of children who have undergone VATS.

3. Cystic Fibrosis: Our Cystic Fibrosis Clinic stands out with its advanced clinical expertise and diagnostic capabilities, providing specialised care for children with this condition. The clinic's team, including skilled physiotherapists, dietitians, nurses, and doctors, works collaboratively to enhance the quality of life for children battling Cystic Fibrosis. This monthly Cystic Fibrosis Clinic focuses on providing high-quality, specialized care for children with Cystic Fibrosis(CF), and their families. CF is a chronic disease that needs regular follow-up even if the child has no symptoms. 

Managing CF requires a multidisciplinary approach. Our team includes experts from the fields of Paediatric Pulmonology, Paediatric Gastroenterology, Paediatric Endocrinology, ENT, Clinical Genetics, Physiotherapy, and Nutrition.  Our collective aim is to provide a holistic management approach for children with CF. Early identification of problems leads to more effective management and better outcomes.

4. Aerodigestive Conditions: At our Aerodigestive Clinic, children with conditions like aspiration pneumonia, gastroesophageal reflux, and congenital anomalies benefit from the combined expertise of our ENT, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and speech and language therapy teams. We offer comprehensive diagnostics, including barium studies, oesophagal manometry, upper GI endoscopy, and video fluoroscopic swallow studies, alongside therapeutic interventions such as fundoplication and PEG.

5. Neuromuscular Diseases: We have a large cohort of children with conditions like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and other neuromuscular conditions. Clinical support for acute and chronic respiratory problems, lung function tests, polysomnography, chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy management and cough assist devices, along with home ventilation services and titration of ventilation as needed.

6. Complex Respiratory Issues: We form a part of a multidisciplinary team to take care of patients with syndromes such as Down syndrome, craniofacial syndromes such as Crouzon syndrome, Apert syndrome, Treacher Collin and Pierre robin sequence, and children with chest wall deformities. We also manage children with mucopolysaccharidosis, Immunodeficiency and chronic lung diseases like bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease and primary ciliary dyskinesia. Partnering with the pediatric ICU, paediatric surgery, ENT and spine teams, we offer services such as home ventilation and tracheostomy, along with training of parents of children who have a tracheostomy and rehabilitation pre and post-spinal surgery.

7. Pediatric Sleep Disorders: We evaluate children with sleep-related issues, including sleep-disordered breathing. We have a dedicated paediatric sleep lab with advanced state-of-the-art equipment, such as transcutaneous carbon dioxide monitoring and level 1 polysomnography. Other sleep-related conditions like childhood insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias like night terrors and sleepwalking, movement disorders in sleep and narcolepsy are managed.

8. Post-critical Care: We manage the care of critically unwell children after discharge from pediatric ICU who have been on extensive cardiorespiratory support, including chronic ventilator support, post-ECMO, post-Bone Marrow Transplant and other organ transplants.

9. Paediatric Lung Transplant Care: We have initiated a road map to paediatric lung transplant services. We aim to offer this to patients with long-term chronic lung diseases when no other treatment options are available.
