  • The patient is positioned supine on the operating table. 

  • A Mayfield three-pin clamp is used to fix the head to the table.

  • The soft tissue is dissected to expose the underlying skull base.

  •  A bicoronal incision is made to allow access to the brain stem.

  • The dura is incised, and the brain is exposed.

  • The tumour or vascular lesion is resected.

  • The dura is repaired, and the incisions are closed.
