Types of CRPT
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy is of three main types.
CRPT Membranes
Membranes are synthetic and biocompatible layers that are used in CRPT to remove as much water and waste as possible from the body. Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRPT) utilises hemofilter and high-flow dialysers to filter blood. Proteins are absorbed and purified efficiently through these membranes. Dialysers and hemofilter can reduce or remove the size of cytokines. Cytokines can cause inflammation and severe kidney complications in the body if they are not eliminated.
Continual Venovenous Hemofiltration
Continuous Venovenous Hemofiltration is used in CRPT to purify blood and control volume. A physiological fluid passes through the body to remove waste and purify the blood.
