Nuclear medical imaging examination is a method of obtaining pictures by detecting radiation from various regions of the body after the patient has been given a radioactive tracer. The images are captured digitally on the screen and sent to a nuclear medicine professional to evaluate blood flow and organ function and spot anomalies like tumours, infections, or enlarged organs. In several cases, radioactive tracers used in nuclear medicine are injected into a vein. They may be administered orally in some examinations. These tracers are neither dyes nor medications and have no negative side effects.
You will be positioned on a comfortable examination table beneath a gamma camera during the nuclear medicine scan.
You'll be positioned beneath the camera while it captures a series of pictures. Because the images are taken at a steady rate, you will be required to lie motionless.
The typical imaging duration is less than an hour, although certain examinations take longer and, in some circumstances, many visits.
A set of crystals inside the camera's head detect radiation from the body part under examination and produce a series of pictures.
Nuclear medicine specialists examine these pictures, looking for anomalies or diseases and then making a diagnosis.
